Climate and Health

The long awaited 2nd edition of the Climate Change and Health Symposium is set to finally take place on the 15th of October, 2024. The event, this year, will be held at the Makerere University School of Public Health Auditorium.

The theme for the Symposium is “Leveraging Community Strengths for Climate resilient Health Systems in Africa.” Amongst others, the Symposium seeks to explore the nexus between climate change and health as it has become abundantly clear that climate change has got a direct and significant impact on health.

The event will also serve as a Pre-Cop (Conference of the Parties) 29 event and the deliberations on the day are set to be a part of the position paper that Uganda will be drafting and submitting during this Conference that is slated to take place in mid-November in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Among the activities set to take place are insightful panel discussions, group discussions, poster presentations and remarks from dignitaries from World Health Organization, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Water and Environment.

The 2nd Climate Change and Health Symposium is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Health, Uganda and Tree Adoption Uganda. Other partners that are involved include but are not limited to: Reproductive Health Uganda, Regenerate Africa, Nile Broadcasting Services (NBS) Television, Population Services Impact, and Youth Initiatives for Youth Action Foundation, Airqo
